Without a doubt, moving house can be stressful, but it doesn’t need to be. Follow these 6 top tips to take the pressure off.

  1. Make a list
    Writing down everything that needs doing will help make sure you remember it all and free your mind from overthinking. 
  2. Book a removals van
    As soon as you have a date, book a company to transport your items. The last thing you want is for moving day to arrive with no way of transporting your possessions.
  3. Start early
    Packing an entire house is a big deal. By giving yourself a head start, you’re less likely to become overwhelmed. Begin decluttering early too. Sorting through your belongings will save a lot of hassle later on. You could even start packing items that aren’t used often, such as things in the loft. 
  4. Organise your utilities
    Taking final meter readings and communicating with companies will mean you’ll be one step ahead in paying bills and ensuring you’re new property is ready for you. Gas, water and council tax are just some examples.
  5. Ask for help
    We all know how hard moving is, so ask for help. Those around you will be glad to lend a hand, whether it’s packing boxes with you or looking after the children. It’s all helpful.
  6. Allow for change
    Although making a plan is needed, being flexible is just as important. Often dates and details will change slightly, and being open and adaptable will help your moving journey.
